  Grand Challenges for Engineering Spur Discussion at NAE Annual Meeting
Oct. 6, 2008: Representatives of the presidential campaigns of Sens. Obama and McCain, journalists, and members of the National Academy of Engineering's committee on the "Grand Challenges for Engineering" participated in a lively discussion of how to encourage action on this century's greatest engineering challenges and opportunities.

  L'Oreal USA 2009 Fellowships for Women in Science
Oct. 1, 2008: L’Oréal is accepting applications for grants to be awarded to five outstanding female postdoctoral researchers in science, math, engineering, or computer sciences. A jury of nine scientists, chaired by NAS President Ralph J. Cicerone, will select the 2009 L’Oréal USA Women in Science fellows.

  International Cooperation Needed to Lower Nuclear Proliferation Risks
