Agendas Available for June 9 – 12 Gulf Research Program Workshop and Advisory Group Meeting

Dear Colleagues:

The next meeting of the Gulf Research Program’s Advisory Group will be held June 11-12 in Tampa, Florida. This is primarily a working meeting for Advisory Group members to continue drafting the program’s strategic plan, which is on course to be released late this summer. For information, including instructions about how to listen to the open sessions, go here.

In conjunction with the Advisory Group meeting, we are hosting a workshop, Education & Training Opportunity Analysis Workshop, on June 9-10, also in Tampa. The workshop is designed to facilitate a discussion of the current state of education and training pathways for preparing the Gulf region’s middle skilled workforce in both the short- and long-term and to identify potential opportunities that might addressed by the Gulf Research Program. To view the agenda and information about how to listen, go here. A workshop report will be posted online by early fall.

In other news, we recently participated in the International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC), held May 5-8, 2014, in Savannah, Georgia, and will be participating in the Conference on Ecological and Ecosystem Restoration (CEER) to be held July 27-August 2 in New Orleans. We’ll also be at the American Public Health Association meeting November 16-19, also in New Orleans. We anticipate announcing the program’s first funding opportunities in the fall of 2014, once the strategic plan is released to set the groundwork in place.
