11th International HOV Conference (2002)

Summary: This HOV conference was held in Seattle, Washington during October 27 - 30, 2002. The theme, "evolution... or revolution?" highlighted two distinct directions that the HOV lane concept could go. Building on past experience and drawing from the insights of conference participants, a primary goal of this conference was to further educate participants as to where the industry was headed, and what could be done to affect it. Along these lines, major objectives of the conference were to inform participants of the latest HOV related practices, activities, research and issues (including the emerging debate on other forms of managed lane facilities); provide a forum for discussion and debate on current HOV/Managed Lane related issues; discuss the future of the HOV lane concept; and transfer successful HOV practices to public agency staff and private sector practitioners.
