Summary: The US search for a viable health care reform strategy has included an interest in how other industrialized nations provide their citizens with universal coverage for comprehensive health care while spending considerable less per capita. The systems of Canada and Germany have been held up as examples the US may wish to emulate. It is not likely that the US would adopt the health care system of any other country in total. More likely, the US will pursue the creation of a new system that addresses the unique economic, social, and political dynamics of the country. This volume provides useful information from international sources on a number of critical issues central to the health care reform debate.
