Review of International Practices Used to Evaluate Unsignalized Intersections (1997)

Summary: This Circular concentrates on at-grade cross or T-intersections with one main street having priority over movements from the minor street. The subordination of the nonpriority streams is indicated by a yield or stop sign, the American equivalent of which is 2-way-stop-controlled ( TWSC) intersection. The Circular discusses the differences between the analysis techniques for TWSC intersections used in different countries of the world. The practices are quite different and have different origins. Before discussing the practices of individual countries, the desirable attributes of an analysis procedure are discussed.
