George Springer is the Paul Pigott Professor of Engineering and Chairman of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University. He received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineerging from the University of Sydney and his ME, MS, and Ph.D. degrees from Yale University.
He served on the faculties of MIT and The University of Michigan until he joined Stanford in 1983.
He is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and the Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE). He received numerous awards including the AIAA Engineer of the Year Award in 1995 and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1994.
